John Wright and Charlotte Smith

John Wright was born in Cambridgeshire, England, the son of William and Catherine Wright. He was a mason by trade and a farmer by birth. He and Charlotte were married in 1850 and were baptized members of the Church in 1854. The date of their emigration from England in 1866 followed three years during which they lived in Liverpool. They apparently sailed with three of their children, including our grandfather, Hyrum, on the ship Arkwright. They traveled by rail from New York to Omaha. After much hardship they arrived on Utah on Oct 8th and moved immediately to Pleasant Grove. In 1871 they moved to Lindon where the last of their 9 children was born. John was an active member of the church and was ordained a High Priest shortly before his death in 1891. Charlotte died three years later.
